• Encyclopedia – Soda contains Phosphoric acid. This compound is used for rust removal, processing food,beverages, cleaner and battery compounds. (Encarta, 2009)
• Medical Studies – This acid can lower bone density, damage teeth. This compound is used in many beverages, the same one make people be addictto sugar and have diabetes (Natural News, 2007).
• Nutritional View - Over the last 30 years a virtual tome of information has been published linking soft drink consumption to a rise in osteoporosisand bone fractures, because of the Phosphoric acid (GHC, 2010)

If we put a penny in a glass wit soda, it will take out the rust.

Does Phosphoric acid in Beverages can clean rust? Glass with Beverages with Phosphoric acid (Pepsi Cola, Coca Cola, 7UP) with a penny inside.Water with a penny inside. Rust fading from pennies.

• Materials
o Four Crystal Glasses
o 1 - Pepsi Cola
o 1 - Coca Cola
o 1 - 7 UP
o 1 bottle of water
o 4 – Pennies
o 1 - Chart forobservation
• Safety Precautions
o Be careful that the glass doesn’t have any other liquid inside.
o Place the investigation in a place for observation for about 5 days.
• Steps of Investigation
o Aresearch of Phosphoric acid was made to establish the problem and hypothesis.
o The investigation procedure and materials was defined.
o We put four glasses and fill it with 8 oz of: Pepsi Cola, CocaCola, 7 UP and Water. Each glass was label.
o We put a penny inside each of the glasses.
o We made observations of every penny for 5 days, twice a day (in the morning).
o All observations werewritten in a chart.
