LESSON 2: TROSTSKY´S HOUSE

LEON TROTSKY
Leon Trotsky (1879-1940) was assassinated in Mexico City in his house in Coyoacan. Now the eightroom houseis a museum. One of the most interesting rooms is Trotsky´s bedroom. There isn´t much furniture in the room. There´s a double bed an two tables. One is a small bedside table. Trotsky´s reading lampis on it. There are three family photos on the larger table. There´s a rug under the bedside table, and Trotsky´s hat and walking stick are on the bed. Also, there are bullet holes in the wall abovethe bed from an assassination attempt.
The bathroom and dressing room are also interesting. There´s a small sink and an old-fashioned bathtub. There´s a mirror on the wall above the sink.Immediately below the mirror is a shelf with Trotsky´s shaving brush on it. Some of his clothes are in the closet in the dressing room. Some of his wife´s shoes are in the closet, too.
The rooms are austereand somber, more like rooms in a fortress than a house.

No hay muchos muebles en la habitación. Hay una cama doble un dos tablas. Una de ellas es una pequeña mesa de noche. Lámpara de lectura deTrotsky está en ella. Hay tres fotos de la familia en la mesa más grande. Hay una alfombra debajo de la mesa de noche, y un sombrero de Trotsky y su bastón están en la cama. También hay agujeros de balaen la pared sobre la cama de un intento de asesinato.
El cuarto de baño y vestidor también son interesantes. Hay un pequeño fregadero y una bañera antigua. Hay un espejo en la pared sobre elfregadero. Inmediatamente debajo del espejo es un estante con brocha de afeitar de Trotsky sobre el mismo. Algunos de sus ropas están en el armario en el vestuario. Algunos de los zapatos de su esposa...
