Tomorrowland: negative effects of this festival in youth

The electronic music industry is in their major peak worldwide, captivating the most part of young people that like to dance this type of music and it is totally related with parties. For that reason, several electronic music festivals that bring all these people together have been created all around the world with the best DJs of themoment. This huge “party” can last about three or four days, depending on the place, the legal permission and if the place has the capacity to receive the millions of fans that assist. One example of this, is the music festival “Tomorrowland”, that nowadays has been a total success, because of its innovation of creating themes in each stage, giving the people an idea of a magical andAlice-in-wonderland-like place, in which you can be disconnected from the world and live a unique experience; nevertheless, in this place people not only dance and have fun(two independent clauses with nevertheless) also use drugs and alcohol that are bound with the youth, who think that without this they cannot have a good time( noun clause? Throughout this essay we are going to state the mostrelevant characteristics of Tomorrowland, the negative effects that this event brings in the young people that assist, the abuse of substances and the influence of this type of music in them.


Tomorrowland is located in Belgium and it is organized every summer in the town of Boom, since august 14th, 2005. This festival is surrounded by a fairytale decoration and offers a variety of electronicmusic genres.In 2007 as the organization of this festival considered that one day was not enough, they decided to continue for one more day (reason clause: as) . In 2008, they gathered more than a hundred DJs from all around the world and for that reason, they had increased the capacity of people that assist. In 2009 they created a stage named “I love 90’s” and brought dancers to entertain people.In 2010, the tickets were sold out in a couple of days before the event and had a new record of 120.000 visitors in two days. In 2011, they extended the event to three days and the tickets were completely sold out just after the pre-sales. In 2012, they had a list of 400 DJs; consequently, the tickets were sold out in less than a day ( two independent clauses with consequently); However ,250.000people remain in waiting-list. The fans affirm it was not easy to get one of these tickets, but it was worth the wait and the prices were not too expensive.


Besides offering one of the best shows, this festival tries to bring the best DJs of the moment, from the locals and the most famous ones; nevertheless, the DJs prepare their playlists with a lot of time to give one of their bestpresentations because they know that if it is excellent, it will take them to the next level. Also they prepare a nice game of lights and fireworks that make everything more exciting, and obviously they are according the beat. Therefore, if they break the records of audience, their music will be played in radio stations, and they will have the opportunity to reach the fame quickly and to be invited toother festivals around the globe. The most memorable DJs that assisted there were: Armin Van Buuren, David Guetta, Tiësto, Ferry Corsten, Bob Sinclair among others, and they marked the history by playing the best that they had. Nowadays, there is a trend about one DJ playing together with another, who can be famous or not, but they mix their fans and create a whole new public. In addition, theyhave collaborations with singers that make their music more popular and enjoyable, which will help them to be remembered for a long time.
