I´m going to talk about natural catastrophes
1. The Japanese earthquake: The earthquake in Japan was so big that it reached 9 on the Richter scale. It was caused by a fault in theEarth´s crust. The epicentre was in the sea, so there was a big tsunami. During the earthquake the skyscrapers shook, but they didn´t fall down, because buildings in Japan are specially designed to resistearthquakes.

2. The damage cause: The huge wave destroyed whole towns and thousands of people were killed. Also it damaged a nuclear plant, so there was a radioactive leak. I don´t think they havebeen able to stop it yet, and if they don´t stop it soon, more people will die, it will be a big problem for future generations too, because they might have health problems, maybe people will havedeformities.
It will take them many years to clear up all the rubble and rebuilt all the towns.
People who lived near the plant won´t be able to return to their homes, so they will have to begin a newlife.

In this photo you can see a victim who is being carried by a rescued team. They are wearing mask because they might be near the nuclear plant, so they might not want to birth the air.

Itlasted several weeks and it threw tons of ash into the atmosphere. As a result of the eruption hundreds of flights had to be cancelled and thousands of people were stranded at the airports.
Question:Were you affected by the delays?
Another result was that the hot ash melted some glaciers so there were floods.

4. The hurricane Katrina: Because of the climatic change, in some parts of theworld, rains a lot and there are floods.
The hurricane Katrina caused terrible floods in New Orleans. The problem was that levees along the river called Mississippi broke and the population has to be...
