COMPONENTS OF A NETWORK
Server: this runs the network operating system and providesnetwork services to the workstations.
Workstations: When a computer connects to a network, the first becomes the last node and can be treated as a workstation or client. The workstations can be personalcomputers with DOS, Macintosh, Unix, OS / 2 or diskless workstations.
Cards or Network Interface Boards: Any computer connected to a network needs a network interface card that supports a schemespecific network, such as Ethernet, Token Ring or ArcNet. The network cable was connected to the back of the card.
