Facebook is a company created by Mark Zuckerberg, is a social networking website. Originally a site for students at HarvardUniversity, but is now open to anyone who has an email account. Users can participate in one or more social networks, in relation to their academic status, workplace or geographic region.In mid-2007 launched versions in French, German and Spanish translated by a non paid users, primarily to boost its expansion outside the United States, since its users are concentratedin the United States, Canada and the UK. Facebook has over 900 million members, and translations into 70 languages. In October 2012, Facebook reached 1,000 million users, of which thereare over 600 million mobile users. Brazil, India, Indonesia, Mexico and the United States are the countries with the greatest number of users.
On April 9, 2012, it was announced thatFacebook acquired by Instagram billion.
Facebook is competing for open space between successful companies like Google and MySpace, so faces big challenges to grow and develop. One strategyhas been opened Zuckerberg, Facebook platform to other developers.
