Effectiveness vs. Efficiency

The only differencebetween our perspectives, it appears, is the meaning of effectiveness and efficiency.
Effectiveness is a measure of the extent to which planned activities are realized and planned results achieved.Efficiency is the relationship between the results achieved and resources used. In others words, effectiveness relates to meeting requirements and efficiency deals with the cost of achieving therequirements.
In our article, the point of placing effectiveness at the baseline is that, first and foremost, the requirements must be met. ISO 9000 auditors do not evaluate how much it costs toimplement a quality management system. Their concern is with whether the requirements are met.
The quality hierarchy model relates effectiveness to efficiency. To be successful, companies must meetrequirements in an efficient way.
