a long time ago in greece a young man named polynices and his army attacked the city where he wasborn. the king was polynice´s uncle, and he sent an army to defend the city. the general of this army was brother of polynice.
there was a battle. the city´s army won, but both brothers died in thebattle. the killed each other, the king had his general´s body burried with great honor and ceremony. polynice´s body was left on the grand. the king ordered that no one burry his body: he would killanyone who buried polynice´s body. antigone was the sister of the two brothers. she buried polynice´s body. when the soldiers brought her to the king, he said that she must die even though she was hisniece and she was going to marry the king´s son. the king thought that the law above everything. antigone was ready to die. she thought that there some laws higher than human ones. for antigone, itwas more important to honor her dead brother by burying him than to abey the king´s rule. the king paid no attention to them. he sent antigone to a cave to die. then he started thinking. did he do theright thing? who else might die because of antihgo? did he do the right thing? who else might die because of antigone´s death? he decided to free antigone. but, the order came too late. antigone hadkilled herself rather wait for a slow death. after seeing antigone´s body, the kings son killed him self with a sward, and then, the kings wife killed herself too. the king felt very sad; perhaps therewere some things greater than laws.
