It is one of the most visited cities in the north part of ecuador , by charming cobbled streets and whitewashed houses, so it is known as the "Ciudad blanca" or White city ,

ibarras downtown is pricipally known because of their typicall food, here are some of the most delicious andtraditional ones:

* paila ice cream, made of natural fruit beaten by hand in a bronze paila (like a frying pan)
* nogadas, a candy made of natural sugar cane with nuts
* arrope de mora, isa blueberry jam or syrup chicha de jora, is the oldest beverage in America, made with fermented corn
While you are visiting Ibarra, you must visit also the train station ,the Indian market area whichis always a buzz with interesting activity and their wooden sculptures known specially in communities like cotacachi, san antonio and otavalo.
Peguche Waterfall
Located in Peguche community, just 5minutes northwest of the town of Otavalo. Peguche Waterfall is a beautiful waterfall of 18 m in height, formed by the river of the same name, which starts at Lake San Pablo. The waterfall is one ofthe most important tourist attractions of Otavalo. Because of its proximity and easy access, several tourists and visitors come to the sector to meet and enjoy a unique landscape.
