Our story is Treasure Island. It was written by Robert Louis Stevenson; itis called “La Isla del Tesoro” in Spanish. The book begins with the narrator, Jim Hawkins, explaining his motive for telling this story: Squire Trelawney, Dr. Livesey, and other gentlemen haverequested him to write down the details of his experience with Treasure Island, since the treasure remained on the island.
Captain Billy Bones – a tall strong, nut-brown, dirty, ragged man with a sabre cuton his cheek, arrived at the Admiral Benbow inn and satisfied that few people went there. He threw down some gold coins and asked for rum, bacon and egg. He stayed for several months. He often singsthe following song.
“Fifteen men on a dead man’s chest.
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!
Drink and the devil had done for the rest-
Yo-ho- ho, and a bottle of rum!”.
He spent his time near the coveor the cliff, looking for something or someone through his telescope. He asked if any sea faring man had come. He was afraid of Long John Silver. He kept a low profile.
After a few months, theinitial money for lodging ran out and Jim's father was too afraid to ask the stranger for more money, it was a worry that Jim believed led to his premature death. Jim, however, was significantly lessterrified of the pirate than everyone else.
One night, Dr. Livesey arrived to check the condition of Jim's father. The captain sang of the "dead man's chest," once again and then banged on the table forsilence. Everyone in the room followed his request, except for Dr. Livesey. The captain repeated his request, which again, Dr. Livesey ignored, and then called the captain`s names and warned him that...
