Capote was sent to Holcombby by The New Yorker. He spent 6 years followingclosely the investigations and talking with the people who lived there, but they didn’t like him because of his eccentricity, expontaneous personality and his sexuality. But he achieves to gather enoughinformation to write the framework of his novel, where he mixed the opinions of the citizens, the interview of the police in charge of the case, and close friends of the family. But Capote didn’t staythere, when the killers were found he went to interview them in jail and made friends with them.
The murders were two, Perry Smith and Dick Hitckock, two psychos that killed the Clutter to escape toMexico with less than 100 Dollars. They were capture thanks to Floyd Wells declaration, he was the cell partner of Hitckock, and he said that he always told him about going and killing Mr. Clutter. Thepolice capture them when they were back from Mexico and had already spent all their money.
Detained and condemned just waiting for the execution, Capote had enough time to gain their confidence andreconstruct their lives and itinerary before and after the murder.
