Twitter is a microblogging free web application that combines the advantages of blogs, social networks and instant messaging. This new form of communication, allows users to stay in touch in realtime with people of interest through short text messages to those who are called Updates (updates) or Tweets.

Users send and receive updates from other users through short messages that must notexceed 140 characters, via web, phone, instant messaging or e-mail, and even from third party applications, such as Twitterrific, Facebook, Twitterlicious, Twinkle, and many others.

In the section ofyour profile you can stay on top of your follow-up (following_profile) and your followers (followers_profile). In addition to seeking friends, family, colleagues or others in your interest, Twitteralso offers other options, such as searching other networks, invite friends by email or select user rights.

Twitter offers a variety of applications that allow news and events from searching to findwork, but there are countless online applications based on Twitter that extend its capabilities and for all OSes.

Some of the many uses of Twitter are: SearchTwitter, TwitPic, Twitter or TwitmailJob Search. Other known uses are based on Twitter: The Twitter Updater, Twitterrific, TweetDeck or Twitterlicious.

Twitter was founded in March 2006 by students of Cornell University in New York,Jack Dorsey, Biz Stone, Evan Williams and Noah Glass. The first three co-founded the company then derive Obvious Inc. on Twitter Twitter team currently consists of 18 people. Jack Dorsey is also thefounder president of the company.

When Dorsey was the launch of instant messaging, it was asked whether the performance of the user software could be easily shared between friends. Then met with thefounders of Odeo (website podcast aggregation and publishing) Noah Glass and Evan Williams, who also had been pre Audioblog founders and Blogger and Pyra Labs respectively.
