The uncomfortable true
Ethnocentrism has affected mankind, since ancient times. The most obvious and have been known in European countries, China, Japan, and North America. Hollywood and American film industry has been one of the means that have wider spreading of this phenomenon in America. Is thought, to that this bias is manifested mainly of white Anglo-Saxon andnative-born Americans against African Americans, and more recently Chinese, Japanese, Hispanic immigrants, Jews. But in this few lines I want to expose that these behaviors in the actuality are powerful and again the minorities... WHITE PEOPLE?
After his release during the Civil War by Abraham Lincoln, the southern states who resented his defeat during the Civil War a number of laws enacted todiscriminate against blacks. This phenomenon is known as the "reconstruction". The idea of President Lincoln, was to create a country with no ties, no barriers, no difference. A country which could live in dignity without exposing it more sacred than a human being has…DIGNITY. But this dream dies with the president. Another case was the brutal Medgar Evers, who was killed on the morning of June1963 by Byron de La Beckwith, was tried two times unsuccessfully, and in 1994 was sentenced to life imprisonment. Because states can not eliminate the rights of blacks, which are guaranteed in the constitution, was used in its place the "segregation" was legal for many years under the idea of "Separated But Equal". The idea was that while the opportunities that were given were the same for bothraces, it was legal. The reality was that educational opportunities, employment, housing, and economic were not equal, for example, white public schools received more money and new tools, while black schools received the least money possible. Another case in point and paradigmatic although anecdotal and more dramatic is the case of the black singer Bessie Smith, who was the victim of a car accident. The ambulance with the singer on it, had traveled all hospitals in the Mississippi in search of blood transfusion. In neither let her in: they were "hospitals for whites." Bessie Smith bled on the stretcher, died result of this segregation "legal". This and many subsequently gave rise to the movement for equal rights of blacks led by Martin Luther King. King, like Lincoln was an idealist, someonewho fought against the tyranny of a segregating race, but like the idea that Lincoln had, King’s ideas died with him.
Despite having a black president, racism is alive in the primary and secondary schools in the U.S., more than half a century of the episode in which 9 young men and women "of color" first entered a whites-only school , Central High, Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1957. Since theyoung black Elizabeth Eckford became the idol of the antiracist struggle, black and Latino students attend schools as segregated as 40 years ago, while the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families reduced assistance to needy households, obviously are black and Latino.
Simultaneously, the Minister of Education, Arne Duncan, introduced a pilot program of militarization of the primary andsecondary education preferably for black and Latino children in Chicago, Illinois, birthplace of our present president and several of his close associates, the once you begin to know heinous racist acts occurred in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina, including murders of blacks who sought refuge from the flood and dry in high places of the city controlled by armed whites. Today there is greatersegregation in U.S. schools.
Students in U.S. schools is 44% nonwhite, and minorities are fast becoming the majority of public school students in the nation, according to a new Civil Rights report published by the University of California - Los Angeles (UCLA). Latinos and blacks are the two largest minority groups, but attend schools as segregated today as 40 years ago, during the civil rights...
