Users of the British Standards Publishing Limited (BSPL) 17799 Electronic Shop
(www.bspsl.com/17799) are reminded that copyright subsists in all standards. Except as permitted
under the Copyright, Design and Patents Act 1988, no British Standard either in part or whole, may be
reproduced,stored in a retrieval system or transmitted in any form or by any means, without prior
written permission of BSPL.
In particular, and without limitation, the user is alerted to the fact that Standards in this service
incorporate both visible and invisible watermarks and that the following terms and conditions are
applicable in relation to use :

A single copy of theStandard is licensed to a sole named user who is permitted to install a single
electronic copy of the standard for use on a single computer.
Hard copies of the Standard may be printed by the sole named user for internal use only, within the
organisation. The quantity of such copies printed may not exceed the quantity of copies purchased.
Where a licensed user has a specification or tenderrequirement to reproduce a British Standard as part
of their documentation for external submission, the necessary pages of the Standard, including the
whole document if required, may be reproduced and submitted.
Under no circumstances is the licensed Standard permitted to be reproduced in part or in whole, either
in hard copy or electronically, including by electronic mail, even for internal usewithin the organisation,
except as defined in 1, 2 and 3 above.
BSPL are not aware of any inherent risk of viruses in the PDF files of British Standards at the time that
they are downloaded. BSPL has exercised due diligence to ensure, so far as practicable, that such files
do not contain such viruses. The PDF files supplied may contain embedded typefaces. In accordance
with Adobe’sÔ licensingpolicy, these files may be printed or viewed but shall not be edited unless the
typefaces which are embedded are licensed to and installed on the computer performing the editing. In
downloading these files, parties accept therein the responsibility of not infringing Adobe’sÔ licensing
policy.
The user accepts that the operation and use of these files is done so at the user’s risk. BSPL does notaccept and is not liable for any loss or damage which may be suffered from their operation or use.

Customers areasked to note that the following terms apply to the standards they order.
1. INTERPRETATION
1.1 In these Conditions: ‘Buyer’ means the person whose online order for the Publications is accepted by the
Seller. ‘Publications’ means British Standards which the Seller is to supply in accordance with these
Conditions. ‘British Standard’ means a standard published under the authority of the Seller.‘Electronic’
means the digital form of a ‘Publication’. ‘Online’ means BSPL’s 17799 Electronic Shop found at
www.bspsl.com/17799. ‘Seller’ means British Standards Publishing Sales Limited (BSPSL). ‘Conditions’
means the standard terms and conditions of sale set out in this document and (unless the context
