UTM-1 RMA Guidelines

Introduction
This document describes the UTM-1 RMA guidelines for restoring the UTM-1 and
troubleshooting scenarios.

How to Restore the UTM-1 ConfigurationBefore restoring the backup configuration, the following requirements must be fulfilled:
•

A configuration backup file must saved at a remote location. A backup can be
stored in one of threedifferent locations (desktop, scp server, tftp server).

•

UTM-1 must be upgraded to the same software level as before (version and
HFA).

To prepare the .tgz file for restoring onto the newappliance, perform the following
steps:
1. Extract the .tgz file on the Windows workstation.
2. Remove /etc/sysconfig/netconf.c file from the .tgz.
3. Tar the extracted directory.
4. Zip thedirectory.
To restore the UTM-1 with the backup configuration, proceed as follows:
1. Install the new UTM-1 onto the rack.
2. Connect to the new UTM-1 by navigating to https://192.168.1.1:4434 using theusername "admin" and password "admin".
3. The first time wizard will initialize. The IP configuration (IP addresses on various
NICs and Routing Table) should remain the same as the previousconfiguration in
order to facilitate the restoration steps. If they are not exactly the same as the
previous configuration, they will be restored after step 5.

4. The deployment type (Locally Managed or Centrally Managed) configuration should
be identical to the previous configuration.
5.After the first time wizard is successfully completed, access the Appliance > Backup
and Restore menu and choose the Restore option. Choose a backup.tgz file to begin
the restoration.
6. Once therestore action is successfully completed, open SmartDashboard and
install policy.
