Dan Wallrath is a Cnn hero because he built houses to veterans of a military career that have injuries, he gives they help like a source and he do it free, hespend 30 years making dream houses to upscale clients, he was boring of that so he founded a new mission in 2005 when he met a man called Steve Schulz who provide a different type of project, thisproject was a national campaign called Operation finally home.
Wallrath was inspired by Schulz because Schulz’s 20 years old-son was in the U.S marine and he had been gravely injured in Iraq, Schulzneeded to remodel his house to accommodate his son’s wheelchair so he ask to Wallrath the favor to remodeling his house that was a meeting that change Wallrath’s life.
Then he mobilized a group ofcarpenters plumbers and suppliers who took that job for free, they decided that the best way of help many veterans was by doing what they knew best Building them homes.
He felt happiness, satisfactionand just felt like this is what god wants me to do, with donation from suppliers and contractors the group can build a $300.000 house for $25.000 to $50.000, the group also covers the taxes andinsurance for two years.
Thanks to this wounded of veterans have a new career; Wallrath is determined to help as many families as he can. He's trying to enlist builders' associations across the country tojoin his crusade, with the goal of building 100 homes. His program got tremendous interest at an industry event in January, and it soon hopes to break ground on a house near Chicago, the first outsideof Texas.
Now retired, Wallrath dedicates about half of his time to this effort without pay. He says it's the least he can do to repay some of the more than 30,000 troops who've been wounded in...
