Batalla de Tarqui got rid the 27 of February of 1829 in the call Portete de Tarqui, to few kilometers of the city of River basin, between troops of the GreatColombia, commanded by Antonio Jose de Sucre and Juan Jose Flores, and Peruvian troops commanded by Jose of the Sea
The morning of day 27 of February, andafter one releases march that lasted all the previous night, marshal Antonio Jose de Sucre was able to locate the First Colombian Division of 1600 men composedby three battalions and a swarm to the north of the plain of On guard advantageous Tarqui, while Division waited for the arrival of 2ª. Meanwhile in executionof a command of the Sea the Peruvian vanguard formed by the Division of general Jose Maria Plaza composed by 900 infants advanced on portete.
The battle gavebeginning when a Peruvian outpost of recognition to the control of Uria captain encountered over a grancolombiana to the control of Piedrahita captain beingunited a bloody combat that jeopardized to the Cede6no battalion, commanded by colonel Jose Maria Camacaro and to the rest of the Peruvian Division of Seat.The Rifles battalion advanced in support of the " Cedeño " and they were with the Exempt battalion. The initial disorder of the battle and the lack ofvisibility caused that these battalions faced among them.
The failure of this last offensive and Peruvian retirement sealed the result of the battle. Thegrancolombiano main body of the army considered prudent to conserve its position whereas the Peruvian managed to fall back in order and to form his divisions in the plain.
