Wireless Ethernet Interconnection
Many organizations around the world need fast, flexible and easy ways of connecting data and voice networks for offices at differentlocations. Examples of such organizations are rapidly growing or large enterprises, campus networks and governmental administrations. Ericsson – the world leader in microwave transmission – now expandsthe MINI-LINK solution with an Ethernet Interface Unit (ETU). It provides a highly reliable, flexible and fast wireless interconnection solution for LAN-to-LAN. The MINI-LINK with ETU combines yourdatacom and telephony in the most cost-efficient and easy way compared to leased lines or other transmission solutions.

ETU The ETU has one Ethernet interface for LAN connection. It can be flexiblyconfigured to any of the G.703 capacities 2, 8 or 34 Mbit/s. It is connected to a Modem Unit (MMU) or a Switch Multiplexer Unit (SMU). Any additional capacity of the MMU can be used forPBX-interconnection. The ETU supports transparency for VLAN tagged frames, full duplex Ethernet, auto-negotiation and full duplex flow control for automatic data bandwidth regulation. The ETU is a plug-in unit to beinstalled in an indoor Access Module Magazine (AMM).

An ETU application for dual-site interconnection

Management MINI-LINK Netman is a powerful element manager for centralized operation andmaintenance (O&M) of all MINI-LINK equipment. It can be used as a stand-alone system or integrated with a higher order Network Management System (NMS) using a standardized SNMP interface. Theconfiguration and management of the ETU is done locally with a laptop connected to the O&M interface.
