1. Validity / General Instructions:
Silicone oil sampling in the case of H&W Visko vibration dampers at GE Jenbacher-gasengines, type J 320 GS xxx. This Technical Instruction mainly applies to the TL 236761 vibration damper, but can also be used for other dampers without plugs. Following the silicone oil sampling, thevibration damper must not be re-used!
2. Procedure:
2.1 Centre punching: Locate the plug first, and centre punch it at its centre. Centre punch a second drilling location at the opposite side (180°opposite) at the same distance from the centre.

Pre-drilling: Do not use cooling oil or drilling fluid as this might contaminate theoil sample.
Pre-drill both centre punched locations using a 4 mm drill.
2.3
Reboring to 9 mm:
Use a 9 mm drill to rebore the 4 mm bore hole. The second 4 mm bore hole is only used toventilate and speed-up the silicone oil sampling and therefore does not need to be rebored!
2.4
Thread cutting:
Use a M10 x 1 thread cutter to cut a thread into the 9 mm hole.
