To begin with I am a freshman student at Cincinnati state; I came from México, and for that reason my English is not very good. Once I was in my ESL class, theteacher invited us to assist to the conversation group. At first, nobody was interested on going to the conversation group, and for that reason the teacherstarted talking about the conversation group; she said a lot of good things. Some of my classmates and I decided to go. When I entered to the class, I saw many peoplefrom different countries, speaking different languages, and with different cultures. The conversation began, and every person introduced themselves; all of uswere talking about Cincinnati State, some people said good things about it, but other people did not agree with them. I was supporting the people who said goodthings about Cincinnati State because I think that is a college and it is an institution to be better and get a profession and to have a safe job, but at the endeverybody agreed that most of the students in campus are unfriendly. A guy from San Diego said that Cincinnati is boring because it doesn’t have many places to go andeverybody agreed with him. I think the conversation group is a good way to meet people, make friends and the most important thing is to practice my English. Ilearned that it is important to be involved in college activities because you know new things. Moreover, I learn about different cultures and ways of thinking. Theconversation group is a helpful group for people who don’t speak English very well. Nowadays, every Wednesday I go to the conversation group to practice my English.
