1. Where is Virginia located?
Virginia is located on the central Atlantic coast of the United States, about midway between Maine and Florida. it was also the central colony of the colonial US and was the first of the colonies to be established, first in 1585 and again in 1607. 
2. Size and population of Virginia.
Size:
With a total area of ​​110,785 km square, Virginia is thelargest area of 35 in the state. The spot width is 320 kilometers, while the length is 690 kilometers.
Population:
Virginia ranked 12th in population in the US with an estimated total of 7,293,542 in 2002, an increase of 3% since 2000. Between 1990 and 2000, Virginia's population grew from 6,187,358 to 7,078,515, an increase of 14.4%. The population is projected to reach 7,324,000 by 2005 and 8.5million by 2025. The population density in 2000 was 178.8 people per km².

State flag.

The flag has a deep blue background with a white circle in the center. Inthe center are the words "VIRGINIA," and "SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS" (Latin for "thus always to tyrants"). Depicting the state's motto on the flag is the goddess Virtue (who is holding a sword and a spear), who has defeated a tyrant, who is lying on the ground, and is holding a chain and a scourge (a whip). Nearby is the tyrant's fallen crown. Virtue symbolizes Virginia and the tyrant symbolizesBritain. Red Virginia creepers and green leaves surround the scene. A white silk fringe is on the edge farthest from the flagstaff.

5. Motto.
"Sic Semper Tyrannis" (Thus Always to Tyrants)
The phrase isattributed to Marcus Junius Brutus, the most famous figure in the assassination of Julius Cesar on March 15. In American history, John Wilkes Booth wrote in his diary that he shouted the phrase after shooting President Abraham Lincoln on April 14, 1865, in part because of the association with the assassination of Cesar. The phrase was recommended by George Mason to the Virginia Convention in 1776,as part of the state's seal. The Seal of the Commonwealth of Virginia shows Virtue; spear in hand, with her foot on the prostrate form of Tyranny, whose crown lies nearby. 
6. Economy.
While Virginia is an employment-at-will state, its economy has diverse sources of income, including local and federal government, military, farming and business. Virginia has 4.1 million civilian workers, andone-third of the jobs are in the service sector. The unemployment in Virginia in among the lowest in the nation, at 5.6%, as of March 2012
Virginia has the highest concentration of technology workers of any state.[154] Computer chips became the state's highest-grossing export in 2006, surpassing its traditional top exports of coal and tobacco combined.

7. Geography.
Virginia has a total area of42,774.2 square miles. Including 3,180.13 square miles of water, making it the 35th-largest state by area. Virginia is bordered by Maryland and Washington, D.C. to the north and east; by the Atlantic Ocean to the east; by North Carolina and Tennessee to the south; by Kentucky to the west; and by West Virginia to the north and west. Virginia's boundary with Maryland and Washington, D.C. extends tothe low-water mark of the south shore of the Potomac River. The southern border is defined as the 36° 30′ parallel north, though surveyor error led to deviations of as much as three arc minutes.
