HORMONAS.
Las hormonas son sustancias secretadas por células especializadas, localizadas en glándulas de secreción interna (producen las hormonas,vertiéndolas en el conducto excretor, directamente a los capilares sanguíneos, para que realicen su función en órganos distantes del cuerpo) ó glándulas endocrinas (carentes de conductos), o también células epiteliales o intersticiales cuyo fin es el afectar la función de otras células.
Se conocen cerca de 200 hormonas en el cuerpo humano. Desde el punto de vista químico, las hormonas sonsustancias muy heterogéneas, desde derivados de ciertos aminoácidos (como la adrenalina y la tiroxina), proteínas (como la oxitócina o la insulina) o esteroideas (como las hormonas sexuales).
