The pounding heart of the 2009 GTI and GLI is a 2.0 liter 200hp turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with FSI direct fuel injection and 207 lbs-ft. of torque. TheFSI system pressurizes fuel and releases it precisely into the combustion chamber for more power and fuel efficiency* Putting all that German power to the pavement . is the responsibility of the 6-speed manual transmission or the 6-speed DSG® with Tiptronic.® Inspired by Formula One™ racing, the DSG transmission uses paddle shifters on the steering wheel to bounce from gear to gear, and lets youshift in one-tenth of a second.
