History: First on July 2 1962 Sam Walton opened the first Walmart store in Roger Arkansas he made like the retail revolution lower price any time anywhere. Then on 1967 The Watsonfamily already owned 24 stores and having up to 12.7 million in sales. In 1969 They named the company officially as Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.
In the 1970s the Company started to go national with avision of spreading and with 51 stores Walmart made the record in sales with 78 million, in the en of the 1970s The Walmart Foundation was built.
1980s they called it the Decade of the firsts, thefirst Sam’s Club opened, the first Walmart Supercenter opened combining the supermarket with the general merchandise, besides that they made 1 billion in annual sales that was faster than any company atthat time. The Sam Club installed computerized systems and replaced cash registers making faster and accurate checkout. At the end of the 1980s the first Walmart Supercenter opened in Washingtoncombining general merchandise and full-scale supermarket making like everything in one. David Glass was named CEO and in those times Walrmart had 276 stores and 21000 associates.
Here we go with the1990s Walmart was named the Americas top Retailer with one stop shopping and the phrase Every Day Low Prices went international. Through a joint with a company name Cifra in Mexico Walmart went global,opening Sam’s Club in Mexico City. 1992 While receiving the Medal of Freedom that the president George H.W gave to him, Sam Walton articulated the company’s mission of saving people money so they canlive better, shortly before passing away at age 74. After that Rob Walton became the chairmen of the board. Walmart employed 371,000 associates in 1,928 stores and clubs. and they made their first 1billion sales in a week. . 1993 Walmart celebrated its first $1 billion sales week.
