Analysis of experience:

1. What is the mission statement of Walt Disney World Resorts (WDW)?

The Walt Disney Company's objective is to be one of the world's leading producers and providers of entertainment and information, using its portfolio of brands to differentiate its content, services and consumerproducts.

The company's primary financial goals are to maximize earnings and cash flow, and to allocate capital toward growth initiatives that will drive long-term shareholder value.

2. Briefly describe the organizations history (key highlights)?

• 1923 The Disney Brothers Studio set up in an uncle’s garage in California. (The first idea of the company).

• 1927 Release of firstcartoon: Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Two years after release of The Skeleton Dance.

• 1930 First appearance of Mickey and Pluto.

• 1932- 1945 Fist full color cartoon released (Flowers and Trees, Three little pigs, Snow white and the seven Dwarfs (first movie), Dumbo, Bambi) ( Dramatically debt (financially and critically).

• 1948 “Seal Island” released ( Fist true-life Adventure.• 1949 Disney Music Company formed.

• 1950 Walt Disney Imagineering (engineers of the imagination).

• 1955 Opening of Disneyland. Mickey Mouse club was created.

• 1966 Walt Disney dies.

• 1967 Construction of Walt Disney World Resort begins.

• 1971 Magic Kingdom Park opens ( Roy O. Disney Died ( 100.000.000 guest visits Disneyland Park.

• 1978Anniversary number 50th of Walt Disney Productions and Mickey Mouse.

• 1982 “Epcot” (Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow) opens.

• 1983 Tokyo Disneyland opens and The Disney Channel launch.

• 1986 Walt Disney Productions name change to The Walt Disney Company.

• 1989 Disney MGM Studios Theme Park opening. ( Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park opens. ( “The LittleMermaid” released.

• 1992 Euro Disney opens ( Name later changed to Disney Resort Paris.

• 1994 “The Lion King ” released, that movie Won two Oscar.

• 1995 Disney Company to buy Capital Cities/ ABC for $19 billion.

• 1998 Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park opens. ( The fist ESPN Zone opens.

• 2000 Sequel to 1940’s “Fantasia”, “Fantasia 2000” released.

• 2001Tokyo DisneySea Park opens ( Disney’s California Adventure Park opens (“Lilo & Stich” released.

• 2003 “Pirates if the Caribbean ” and “Finding Nemo” released.

• 2005 Michael Eisner, CEO plans to retire September 2005.

• 2005 Bob Iger becomes in the new CEO. ( Hong Kong Disneyland opens.

• 2006 Pixar Animation Studios purchased ($7.4 billions). ( Grossed over onebillion during the year 2006. (

• 2011 Disney Cruise Line’s.

3. What are the characteristics of the clientele (customers) of WDW? (Please use demographic, psychographic and geographic information to describe the various segments served by your organization).

Basically the customers that Walt Disney World Company has are people of all ages, infants, children, adults and older people of anyreligion, culture, language, ethnicity etc.

Disney is a company that also thinks of the people that have any type of disability. However, thinking of the price of the parks and resorts, the people that have the possibility to enter must be people who household income.

Some studies have shown, that the average target customer’s age is 44.5 years old (those include a house hold income peryear of $75.000). A 42% of these customers have 1 child per household. Also Walt Disney World targets a 32% homeowners with some sort of education and a median house hold income of 42,360.00. Children are the base but the parents are the deciding factor, therefore Disney aims the parents.
