Lesson Plan 2nd Grade
Day: Monday, October 31st, 2011.
Book(s): Spotlight on English Unit 3 “Home and Family”
Lessons 1 to 3.
Develop Guideline(s): Language and Communication.

Objectives: Making predictions, describing a room.
Sptl Competence(s): Listening... listens to obtain information, follows directions, listens for enjoyment.Speaking… Asks for clarification and explanation, paraphrases information, gives and follows oral directions, speaks clearly and at an appropriate pace, uses descriptive words to speak about people,retells stories, including characters, setting, and plot, reads aloud fluently and accurately, recounts experiences in a logical sequence. Reading…. Matches oral words to printed words, recognizes anduses knowledge of spelling patterns, reads aloud fluently and accurately, recognizes cause-and-effect relationships in a text, compares and contrasts character’s feelings, restates facts and details inthe text, identifies literary elements such as character and plot, knows the meaning of simple prefixes. Writing… writes legibly, uses correct word order in written sentences.

Warm-up: Greetings, Routine.Sptl Introduction: Children will be told that in this unit they will be learning about home and the family. I will elicit from the Ss what is “Home” and what is “Family”. We will listen and repeatthe rhyme on p. 67 SB.
Sptl Class work: Ss will predict what the story “Our New Baby” is about. Ss will listen to the story and then we will discuss some questions to develop comprehension andlanguage skills.
