Western Europe Rises
During the Early Modern Era, Western Europe rose in power in relationship to internal issues of the Asian empires. Along with this fact, the increased trade and manufacturing of Western Europe and, its territorial expansionism provoked these nations to rise to a higher and more influential level of power among other nations around the world.
Western Europe rose inrelationship to the Asian empires due to their internal problems, which damaged their governmental structures, thus, leading the empires to their fall on power. With the appearance of the New World Silver, principally coming from the Americas, empires like China were observed to present a greater gap between rich and poor, having the poor struggle more to find the silver that was needed to pay theirtaxes, and just basically to survive, this fact will be consider as a contribution to the fall of the Asian empires which, therefore, lead to the rising of the Western.
Giving in consideration the damaging on the economy of these empires as a contribution to the internal issues of the same nations, we can also add the bad organization and malfunctioning of the internal powers of the Asian empires. One clear example of these actions is seeing at the beginning of Shah Abbas’ I govern of the Safavid Empire. The corruption and mad ambition within his military, gave his enemies the opportunity to attack Iran from both fronts, making of his empire more vulnerable. Although he tried to repair that fall by recruiting new men and finally creating a new army of nearly 40,000 troops, his attempt tobring security and stability back to the empire was not fulfilled. Unfortunately because of the bad military management, the empire lost some new province every year. These facts lead to a faster fall of the dynasty which opened a step to the fall of the Asian empires.
The warring religious factions were also added to the internal problems of the Asian empires. Many emperors attempted to reconcilethe different faiths within their reigns and even tried to create new religions. Akbar, the emperor of India was trying to bring together the Muslim and Hindu faiths in an effort to stop the sectarian quarrels and violent conflicts; he tried to pay respect to the Hindus by not cutting his hair or wearing a turban and created the Din-i-Ilahi a new religion thought to help on his pursuit. But as aresult of Akbar’s attempt on bringing these two religions together, the Muslim subjects felt disrespected and offended towards their faith, and both the Hindus and Muslims rejected the Din-i-Ilahi. Even though Akbar’s beliefs were absolute opposite to his subjects’ he was not assassinated, as said by Portuguese Jesuit, Father Monserrate in the document Akbar’s India: The view of a JesuitMissionary; but they did caused a great disagreement and refusal from his subjects, which can be seen as a contribution to the problems within his reign and therefore a contribution to internal problems that caused the fall of the Asian empires.
Although, the rising of Western Europe had as great advantage the fall of the Asian empires, the increased trade and manufacturing of the Western nations impulsea more rapid increase on power to Europe. One of the biggest impacts that trading had, not just on the European nations, but throughout the entire nations around the world, was the Columbian exchange known as the trade between the Native Americans, the Europeans, and African slaves. New World crops such as American corn, spices and sweet potato; along with the animal exchange such as horses andcattle, introduced to the New World by European and Asian nations; and the Afro-Eurasian diseases, triggered larger population increased in favor of the Western. Europe was expanding its population.
