WHAT IS WRONG WITH RIM



Research in Motion is a company that has transformed the worldwide mobile communications market by designing, manufacturing and marketing innovative wireless solutions.They have preceded this through the development of integrated hardware, software and services that support multiple wireless network standards. RIM provides solutions for flawless access totime-sensitive information and this would include email, phone, text messaging, Internet and intranet-based applications. Now days as everybody might know Rim is going through its worst moment ever, after theshare price of Research in Motion went down by about 95 percent, and the company posted a $512 million quarterly loss just before announcing a delay in a new phone on which it has staked its future.However Thorsten Heins, the chief executive of the BlackBerry maker, said “there’s nothing wrong with the company as it exists right now.”
In other words, RIM is losing money and it has no way offixing that, not even by sacking thousands more people. It's not broke, but its current trajectory can only end up taking it to that level. There are options — full sale, partial sale, asset-stripping —but there's not really anything of serious value to a buyer other than the network and maybe the intellectual property. According to Michael Mace, a former executive at Apple, “RIM is still not aboutto collapse”.  It is very much still a player in the smartphone industry.  However, they are in a situation right now where they are having difficulty with the major players.  Clearly they have losttheir relevance in the smartphone industry.
The main problem of Rim is that its market is saturating and it seems to have lost the ability to innovate and create great products.  To be able to fixRIM’s problems, it need to be able to continuously satisfy its customers.  If these hard-core BlackBerry smartphone fanatics are satisfied, then they will continue to be loyal with the BlackBerry and...
