What were the key causes of the conflict between Jews and the Arabs between 1919-1939?

The Arabs and Jews had been involved in an ongoing conflict ever since the end of world war one. The Jews hadbeen discriminated throughout time all around Europe. The Arabs have been ruled by the Ottoman Empire during this period of time and were promised independence by the British if they helped themdefeating the Turks in WW1. However the British contradicted themselves by promising a homeland to the Jews in Palestine, this upset the Arabs in Palestine and differences between them triggered theconflicts that are still present today in Palestine.

In the years 1930 throughout 1935 the Jewish population had double In size. By the end of the 1930s they constituted one third of thepopulation in Palestine. Many of the immigrants were highly skilled refugees who were persecuted in Europe. They brought with them knowledge and funds to boost the Palestinian economy. Tal Aviv had expandedfrom a population of 46,000 in 1931 to 135,000 by 1935. When Palestine became the dumping for such food products the Palestinian landowners were forced into bankruptcy. In addition to this many farmworkers had to abandon their jobs and had to look for jobs in the local towns or in other countries. In 1919they established a centralized Hebrew school system. While the world was plunging into the Great depression, in Palestine the economy was thriving. Economic growth was, however not evenly disturbed between the two communities. Palestinians,whose farm product was mainly staple crops, suffered from the absence of tariffs imposed on imported goods. Between 1922 and 1947, the annual growth rate of the Jewish sector of the economy was 13, 2per cent while that of the Arabs 6.5 per cent. Capital invested in Arab industrial establishments was two million pound as opposed to 12, 1 million pounds in Jewish industrial establishments. An...
