Basketball is not just a sport, it is a lifestyle.
For years, basketball has made us scream, stand up from our chairs for those amazing shots, dunks, dribbles and more or we have even cried when your team loses the final you were waiting for the whole season. And these are just a few emotions people have felt during their life involving family,friends, teammates and more.
As Mexicans we have the opportunity to travel a few hours and watch the best basketball league in the US and in the entire planet. Past seasons were amazing and this year is not the exception, some of the greatest players are changing teams or maybe not, we do not exactly now but what we know for sure is that it is going to be spectacular as always.
In myopinion, this is going to be great because experts say, this year’s Olympic USA team is the new “Dream Team”. With their almost perfect appearance in London 2012, they are now predicting changes for Rio 2016.
After summer vacations, the NBA (National Basketball Association) coaching staff has to evaluate players, especially rookies, they start with training camps, where they prepare players forregular season and decide who’s going to be in their teams.
After choosing and having their teams, coaches start working hard and preparing for the nine exhibition games they have to play before regular season which starts in November. This regular season consists in eighty two games, half home and half on the road. The NBA is now the only major league in North America in which all the teamsplay each other during the regular season, and where a season ticket holder can see every team in the league come to town in any one season.
The regular season is interrupted every February to celebrate the annual NBA All-Star Game; the player with the best game performance is rewarded with the MVP award. This game includes contests that are: the Foot Locker Three-Point Shootout; and theSprite Rising Stars Slam Dunk contest.
The regular season concludes in April, that is when voting begins for individual awards, and includes the NBA Sixth Man Award, the Rookie of the Year Award, the Most Improved Player Award, the Defensive Player of the Year Award, the Coach of the Year Award, and finally, the Most Valuable Player Award.
Last year, LeBron James won the Most ValuablePlayer or better known as MVP award, he plays for the Miami Heat team which is the best team of last season.
As we know Miami Heat from the Eastern conference is the champion of 2011-2012 season, since 2010 Miami Heat counts with the “Big Three”, they are Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh and LeBron James, these players are such a support for this team, they have an excellent three point shooting, theydribble like there is no tomorrow, also they give a fantastic show by dunking and letting us know that they know what they are doing.
As a result of their “good game” the Big Three are part of the 2012 Olympic basketball team also called “The New Dream Team” which causes conflicts between the original team and this team.
Some people, even players said they know they are better thanthe original Dream Team whose captain was Michael Jordan, some players from this original team said the “New Dream Team” is not. They say the new ones are arrogant and just looking for fame, and also that they do not have the passion they had.
This can never be truly said because now they cannot play as well as they did because of their age and some injuries that do not let them. “If only wecould go back to our ages and play a game against them we would know who the best is.” (Earvin Effay “Magic” Johnson, Jr.), this is how “Magic” Johnson expresses what he feel about what players and fans say about the new team.
