No funding for lunar landers, no moon bases, and no Constellation program at all. (informative speech)
INTRODUCTION
I. Developed in the aftermath of the Space shuttle Columbia in 2003 President George W. Bush offered the proposal “Vision for space exploration- Constellation program” the program that was supposed to take Americans back to the moon for the first time since 1972 and then on toMars. “We choose to explore space," he said, "because doing so improves our lives and lifts our national spirit”.
II. When President Bush established his new space exploration policy to return humans to the moon, Nasa estimated the policy would cost $230 billion from 2004 through 2025.
III. In 2009, concerned by price increases on the program, U.S. President Barack Obama ordered a review of theproject. NASA’s attempts to pursue its Moon goals had drawn funding away from other NASA programs, including robotic space exploration, science, and Earth observations.
IV. Today I will inform you about why is NASA to cut trips outer Space.
A. The back to the moon program known as the Constellation program
B. Obama Administration and the constellation program
C. The consequences of cancellingthe constellation program
BODY
I. The Back to moon program known as the Constellation program
A. The initiall Purposes of the Constellation program were:
1. To gain significant experience in operating away from Earth's environment
2. To develop technologies needed for opening the space frontier
3. To Conduct fundamental scientific research
4. To develop technologies needed for openingthe space frontier.
5. To establish an extended human presence on the Moon
6. To lead to future missions to Mars.
B. President George W. Bush issued in the Vision for Space Exploration that the Project Constellation should replace the aging fleet of space shuttles.
1. The shuttles Discovery, Endeavour and Atlantis will be replaced in order to create a new generation of spacecraft for humanspaceflight.
2. The rockets Ares I and Ares V, the Orion crew capsule and the Altair Lunar Lander should be the new spacecraft capable of performing a variety of missions, from International Space Station resupply to lunar landings.
II. Obama Administration and the constellation program
A. In February 1st 2010, the Obama Administration abruptly canceled Constellation
1. The program was behindschedule,
2. lacking in innovation due to a failure to invest in critical new technologies
3. the program was over budget. By 2011 NASA’s budget is going up: $19 billion compared to $18.7 billion in 2010
B. The realignment of NASA will focus in future space missions via a low-cost heavy-lift rocket platform; more robotic missions; help for commercial space transportation;
C. The major changein the way NASA has done business for the past 50 years a phase-out of the Space Shuttle program with heavy reliance on the private sector and other countries as Russia, China and India.
1. US Government will be funding private companies to develop capsules and rockets that will be used to provide transportation of cargo and crew to the International Space Station.
2. The russian Soyuzspacecraft will ferry the astronauts until American commercial spaceships become available. The Russian government charges NASA $51 million for each seat on its Soyuz vehicles.
3. A number of private companies have been competing to build next-generation vehicles capable of transporting humans into space and to the International Space Station. Armadillo Aerospace, Virgin Galactic, SpaceX and others arevying to be the first commercial spacecraft mainly concentrating on the lucrative space tourism industry.
D. The White House will direct NASA to concentrate on Earth-science projects -- principally, researching and monitoring climate change and on a new technology research and development program that will make possible human exploration of asteroids by 2025 and the solar system.
