William Harvey was born in Folkestone, England in 1579 and died in 1657. He was a physician, English physiologist and embryologist. After graduating from Cambridgein 1597. In 1598 goes to Padua, where he lived until 1602, studied medicine at the best university in Europe. After returning to England, got permission to practice medicine in 1604 and joined theRoyal College of London. In 1607, he became a resident at the hospital of St. Bartholomew, where develop most of his career professional and scientific.
In 1604 in England, marries the daughterof a London physician.
In 1628 he published a small treatise about the movement of the heart and blood, which gave an essentially correct model of blood circulation, explaining the role of thevalves of the heart (atria and ventricles).He suffered government harassment during the Protectorate of Cromwell, but kept his position at the College of Physicians until shortly before his death.
