“Woodstock 1969: The Music Festival and the new ideology”

Sex, Drugs and Rock N’ Roll… All those things in one place, Woodstock!
The Woodstock music festival that was held on a farm in the town of Bethel, New York in 1969 and was one of the most important music festival or concert in the history of rock ‘n roll. There was supposed to be only for a few people, no more than25,000 people but they were more than the expected because many people from the whole country were informed that a big music event was about to start on August, just three days where people can reach their freedom and express themselves, by singing, dancing, smoking… not tobacco, but marihuana and LSD, so they were able to really get out of their world with music with help of the magic substance; justhoping that they a big change can occur all around the world, with music, open minded thoughts, and good feelings… they came with flowers on their heads and grabbing their hands; they were hippies, one of the most weird and funny people on that time that were born by the ideological thoughts that started on the early decade of 1960’s .
The music festival that was held on Woodstock in 1969 wasimportant because the people who came consolidated the liberal and open minded movement that started on 1960’s decade, and that’s explained by these four reasons:

First of all a new way of think began to appear. The people started to concern about the young people because of their “diabolic” music; that was the newest generation that born after the Second World War, who grow up with such greatartists like Bill Haley, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, and many others who started to think about why their country was always involved in a war, so they began to complain about that, so the generation that immediately born next, the “Woodstock Generation” born with those thoughts of complaining about wars, government and the way the governors guide the country; and the worst thingthat can happened in that moment was one of the most embarrassing war of all the time, the Vietnam war.
Many people start to complain. The mad magazine began to make parody of some things that people who still believed in the government or another example, in those years the playboy magazine started to appear with some people used to describe him as the “human devil”: Hugh Hefner, that in 1959published the first playboy magazine with Marilyn Monroe on its front pages. But not only nude woman were supposed to appear on that magazine, many people started to write interesting articles on those pages, for example, one of the most interesting book story of the literature movement called on its native language (French) “Avant-garde”, was Ray Bradbury’s “Fahrenheit 451” which was published onthe Playboy magazine on, March, April, and May of 1954. Those are only few examples which show us the ideology that started to change from completely traditionalist to a more activist way of thinking, as I said it before, it was consolidated with the music festival.

Second, as I have already mentioned some examples about playboy’s magazine articles, which shocked many people, I cannot continuewith this essay before I talk about one of the most important revolution that was like the heart, liver, or lungs of the hippie movement, also in Woodstock; It’s the world famous Sexual Revolution of the 1960’s.
Also known as the “Sexual Liberation”, the movement began to make people think and hear about some things like “birth control”, the pill, public nudity, the word condom, and the firstsights of the legalization of abortion. The celibate was not more the ideal of many couples, they were beginning to believe in “free love” and such things like premarital sex, masturbation and pornography started to be in the mouth of every person. Then talking again about the festival, there were 2 births that occur and a very little percentage of Ney York’s population and in all the country, born...
