In the case of “Francisca Rojas” two young kids were murdered they belonged to Francisca. She met a younger guy who she “fell in love with” and she was willing to do anything forhim. Francisca’s younger boyfriend would say she would marry her if it weren’t for her kids. Since Francisca was so in love with her younger boyfriend she killed her two kids so that themarriage would happen soon. So she wouldn’t get caught, she blamed her neighbor who was in love with her. They argued the day that the murder occurred because he found out about heryounger boyfriend and he threatened her which made that day perfect to blame him after she committed the murder, thus leading to the investigation.
I believe that the techniquesused in this case were finger printing, interrogation, and looking beyond what is told. Instead of looking through the crime scene for weeks they looked beyond and decided to get toknow the criminal (Velasquez) who was accused of this murder by Francisca. The interrogation made forensic investigators suspect maybe they got the wrong person because Velasquez wasn’tconfessing after torture and his story was straight and he had a unshakeable alibi and Francesca’s young love was absolved from complicity. When the investigator decided to look againat the hut for several hours he finally notices a brownish mark on the door of the bedroom. Which lead to cutting the of the door to get the fingerprint, and to finger printFrancisca. When they found that the finger print matched they confronted her and that’s when she admitted to the killing of her two children for her husband to marry her.
Juan Vucetich madehistory in the forensics field by making the first positive matching prints in this case. This lead to the improvement of identifying prints in crime scenes later in the future.
