ABSTRACT - Fertilizationis essential in agriculture to produce higher yields and buttercup squash stem is not immune to this practice, which requires high concentrations of nutrients, especially nitrogen, which affects thefruit and its quality. An investigation was conducted to evaluate the effect of different levels of nitrogen on crop yield, the Company Estero Bellaco Ayolas District, Department of Misiones, regaio inEastern Paraguay, between the months of December 2009 to April 2010 . The experimental design was randomized blocks with four treatments and four replications, totaling 16 experimental plots, thetotal area used was 472.5 m2 experimental plots were fertilized with urea at 15 and 30 days after transplantation, with respective treatments: T1: no urea, T2: 34 kg / ha of urea, T3: 48 kg / ha of urea,T4: 62 kg / ha of urea. Variables evaluated were: number of fruits per plant, weight and diameter and of urea with the best performance trunk buttercup squash. The results were subjected to analysisof variance and posterior comparison of means by Tukey test at 0.05% possibility of error, without urea treatment (T1), which had the highest number of fruits per plant, and the application of 62 kg /ha urea (T4) and gives more weight and diameter of fruits and crop yields increased significantly, exceeding yes untreated urea (T1) at 214.28%, and an economically viable rate of return of 9.3 foreach unit invested.
