Zelfo-Technology

Zelfo is a biodegradable plant based material that may be formed into various products (eg furniture, paper, wall coverings, lighting, kitchenware etc.) It is extremely durable, and may be formed tovarious densities going from 0.5 to 1.5 g/cm3, as light as cork or as dense as PVC. Its strength comes from their CORE (Cellulose Optimization Resource Efficient) technology patent, which provides anenergy-and water-efficient processing method to transform cellulose fiber and water into the material. It predominantly uses hemp fiber, although sugar cane, jute, flax, sisal, straw, recycledtextiles, waste paper, dust from hemp and flax processing, and other cellulose bearing fibers may also be utilized. Being a natural product it will offer the unique hand-made look and feel to variousproducts that can be naturally colored with pigments to form shades of brown, ochre, black, white, green, blue, red, yellow and violet. What makes this product unique is that it goes beyond its aestheticqualities. It is price competitive and, unlike plastic injection molding, relatively small runs are cost-effective. In addition, it is a sustainable and adaptable alternative to conventional materialssuch as wood, synthetic materials such as plastics, various metals, recycled glass, fiber glass and other chemically processed materials.

Zelfo is ideal for 2-20mm thick cylindrical applications. Athinner version of this material is translucent, and it is mostly used for lighting applications, while a thicker one is used for strength applications such as furniture. Being a natural, livingmaterial, it requires the same care and maintenance as required for wood and is not suggested for applications requiring complete immersion in water. No matter what finish is chosen, -textured, matt, pearlor highly polished- Zelfo is ideal for many industries.
