A modest proposal for preventing global warming, reducing environmental pollution, to create a better future for the humanity.
We may have heard about global warming and not been hit by the alarmit should produce in us. Every day we keep taking the life out of our planet without noticing it. It’s hard to believe, but environmental pollution is the number one factor producing global warming.Factories, large livestock farms, driving our cars to everywhere, even something as simple as using hair spray is contributing to the finality of our existence. Sooner or later we will have to takeaction against this problem. Why not start now?
To begin, we can just blame ourselves for the way we had treated this earth. Humans had since the beginning, found a way to brutally cause damage toevery living form. That may be why environmental pollution is at a high rate, our ignorance and neglect. About 400 million metric tons of hazardous wastes are globally generated each year. TheUnited States alone produces about 250 million metric tons. Americans constitute less than 5% of the world's population, but produce roughly 25% of the world’s CO2, and generate approximately 30% ofworld’s waste. Isn’t these numbers alarming? That’s nothing compared to what will happened if we keep like we are going. Living with adverse air quality can kill many organisms including us humans. Ozonepollution can cause respiratory disease, cardiovascular disease, throat inflammation, chest pain, and congestion. Water pollution causes approximately 14,000 deaths per day, mostly due to contaminationof drinking water by untreated sewage in developing countries. Nearly 500 million Chinese lack access to safe drinking water. 656,000 people die prematurely each year in China because of airpollution. In India, air pollution is believed to cause 527,700 fatalities a year. Studies have estimated that the number of people killed annually in the US could be over 50,000.
