A School Without Exams

Currently I am working in a school in Valencia and this week the director and the head of studies have decided to remove the quizzes, tests or grades to students of any course of Primary Teaching. Ifind hard enough to imagine a school without exams, but we let's stop to think about it: Is the information that these tests or quizzes provide us totally objective and sufficient to assess theknowledge of our students? Or How many of the contents are memorized by students and, soon, these vanish from their minds? Without examinations, Can‘t we control the evolution of the pupils?
These aresome of the questions that the director and the head of studies have been considering to take this decision, so by means of this essay , the positive effects and the negatives points of this newrule will be developed order to demonstrate that the assessment without exams or tests has many advantages and positive points than the traditional evaluation.

In relation to the positiveaspects, it will ensure that most students no longer feel the pressure when they perform this proving, especially at the highest levels. This aspect will be very becoming, as the students will be moremotivated and focused on other aspects of assessing how it can be, among others, procedures, strategy development or the cooperation. A good alternative is that after a while, the students must exposetheir classmates what they have learned and so get together have a unified knowledge. Besides, an aspect that should not be left in oblivion that the examinations or tests lead to competitiveness amongstudents, that even most times it harms and transmits more pressure to the students.


On the other hand, it is important to show the lack of objectivity that the exams and overall the typicalmultiple choice test have , so in our lives occur many subjective factors that do turn around and change our mood and this types of assessment don’t taken into account.
