The Internal War.

Have you ever thought how life was in while World War 2 was going on? This book called A Separate Peace is about. This book starts with Gene going back to his secondary schoolcalled Devon after fifteen years. When he is at Devon he remembers all his fun days and adventures but when he sees one specific tree the story begins. Gene starts telling the reader all the story. Itstarts with a little mistake and ends up very bad. And after all I think that there are lots of dangerous things in rivalry.

This rivalry begins with Gene thinking that Finny is trying to stop himfrom studying. Gene thinks that they are even because Finny is very good at sports and Gene is very good ant studying. The problem is that gene wants to be better than Finny. After Gene almost goingcrazy because of this, he thinks that Finny is trying to take him away from studying so he can be the best. One day they decided to jump off a tree to a river together. “…my knees bent and I jouncedthe limb. Finny, his balance gone, swung his head around to look ant me for an instant with extreme interest.” (ASP Pg. 60) This quote explained when Gene basically pushed Finny out of the tree.After this Gene felt very guilty and Finny went to the Hospital. The first thing that Gene hears about Finny is that he can’t do sports any more. When Gene goes to visit Finny at the infirmary he doesn’tlook like an athlete any more. While he is there Gene admits that he pushed him out of the tree but Finny does nor believe him and tells him to leave.


Some months later Brinker asks for aninvestigation. Brinker is almost like that guy who everyone likes and he feels very important. In the investigation they discuss why and how did Finny falls of the tree. After an unpleasant time theyhad, Gene finally admits that he pushed Finny out of the tree.
