1. Executive Summary

Aiming to address the five main Human Resource management issues faced by Christie's, the worlds leading artbusiness this report has presents an overview of the company and the analysis of the various aspects of the Human Resource Department.

2. Terms of Reference

This report has been compiled by Linda Jo Fuchs, Nathalie Klier, Goezde Sahin, Sabine Niederwieser, Rena Schote and Silvia Turco, second year students at the European Business School London and is to be submitted by the 13th of Novemberfor the Foundation of Human Resource MGT-201 course to Mr. Michael Oyelere and Mrs. Michelle Figg .

3. Methodology

The Methodology used by our group in producing this report includes both primary as well as secondary research. For further sources please consult the bibliography provided in the appendix.

4. Findings

4.1 Definition of Discussion

For this case study our group have beenasked to choose a company of our choice and comply and analysis concerning their Human Resource Department procedures. After thorough research we chose the prestigious auctioning house called Christie's with offices across the world. How has this organisation build up their well known reputation? What is their recipe to their success? In order to answer these questions we will take a closer lookat the company, their procedures is the Human Resource Department and the standards of the company.

4.2.1 Introduction
Christie’s, the world's leading art business had global auction and private sales in 2008 that totaled £2.8 billion/$5.1 billion. Christie’s is a name and place that speaks of extraordinary art, unparalleled service and expertise, as well asinternational glamour.

4.2.2 History
Founded in 1766 by James Christie, Christie's conducted the greatest auctions of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, and today remains a popular showcase for the unique and the beautiful. Christie’s offers over 450 sales annually in over 80 categories, including all areas of fine and decorative arts, jewellery, photographs, collectibles, wine, and more. Prices rangefrom $200 to over $80 million.
Christie’s has 57 offices in 32 countries and 10 salerooms around the world including in London, New York, Paris, Geneva, Milan, Amsterdam, Dubai and Hong Kong. More recently, Christie’s has led the market with expanded initiatives in emerging and new markets such as Russia, China, India and the United Arab Emirates, with successful sales and exhibitions in Beijing,Mumbai and Dubai.
