Edward Estlin Cummings’ Short Biography
This poet was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in October, 1894 and he died in September, 1962. He studied Latin andGreek in Latin High School of Cambridge that is the reason for using those in his poems. He also completed his studies: “Bachelor of Arts” and “Master Degree” in 1915 at Harvard University. He was poet,playwright, novelist and painter. These are some of his poems: “Tulips and Chimneys’’, "Eimi", "No thanks" and "Collected Poems". He is remembered as an eminent voice of 20th century poetry.Literature movement: Many of his poems are satirical and talk about social issues but they have a strong favoritism toward ROMANTICISM, most of his poems are related with: love, nature and sex. His poeticforms and themes share an affinity with the romantic tradition. His poetry is free verse, that is to say, with no concern for rhyme or meter.
