I Love Holiday

I love holidays, but I always forget something important. This time I was clever: I made a list before I packed: camera, diary, mobile phone,… So when I got t Cape Town, I had mycamera with me to take photos and my diary to write down all the information about its history.
In my essay, I want to write about one special place I visited on my holiday inCape Town- Robben Island.
Today, Robben Island is a museum, but it used to be a prison. The island made a good prison because there were stormy waters all around it. It wasimpossible to escape.
The prisoners on the island weren’t criminals like murderers or thieves. They were all political activists. They were prisoners because they didn’t agree with theirgovernment. Even South Africa’s first democratic president, Nelson Mandela, was a prisoner on Robben Island for 18 years. Now, Robben Island is a symbol of freedom and human rightsand people from all over the world visit it.
