Octavio Paz Lozano was born on March 31, 1914 in the village of Mixcoac (now part of Mexico City), in the Federal District. I had two very important family figures, his grandfather who was a writerIrenaeus Paz, was intellectual and joined the government of Porfirio Diaz and his father Octavio Paz, who was revolutionary during the Mexican Revolution. He and his family went to live in the UnitedStates when he was returned to Mexico pequeño.Cuando participated in the student rebellions of the time, which sought autonomy for the University.
Very young, Octavio Paz began his literary activityhelping various magazines and newspapers as "Bandaral" and "Journal of the Valley of Mexico." Also, in 1933 he published his first book of poems called "Wild Moon". During the Spanish Civil War in1937, Octavio Paz travels to Spain and published poems as "Profile of Man" and "will not".
Upon his return to Mexico in 1938 to aid the formation of the newspaper "The People", and so in 1939 becameeditor of the same. That same year, along with Efrain Huerta, founded the magazine of poetry and criticism "Workshop" which plays a major role in the Mexican literary renewal, as it was composed of youngwriters which were published translations of important texts modern universal poetry.
In 1940 he founded the magazine "The Prodigal Son" with Xavier Villaurrutia. Three years later, took a diplomaticpost in the U.S. and two years after receiving the grant from the Guggenheim Foundation.
With its entry into the Mexican Foreign Service, traveled to Europe and settled in Paris from 1946 to 1952,where he met Breton and collaborates with the activities of the Surrealist movement and various international journals. Right there, he published his essays "The Labyrinth of Solitude" by whichachieved international recognition, "The Bow and the Lyre" and "Pears of the Elm" which is summarized his poetic theory.
In 1952 he traveled to India and Japan where he meets Eastern poetry and thoughts....
