1- Fragmento de The Raven:

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,

"'Tis some visiter," I muttered, "tapping at mychamber door
Only this and nothing more."

Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December,
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow;Ñvainly I had sought to borrow
From my books surcease of sorrowÑsorrow for the lost Lenore
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore

And the silken saduncertain rustling of each purple curtain

y asentía, adormecido, de pronto se oyó un rasguido,

Mi traducción:

Una noche desdichada, en la que me sentía cansado y pensaba afirmándome sobre un montón de libros evocadores y singulares que trataban de sabiduría ancestral, justo cuando casi me dormía, oí un golpe, como si algo rasguñara la puerta de mi aposento y Murmuré:
Es un visitante tocando mi puerta. Sólo se trata de eso.
Ah, recuerdoclaramente aquel diciembre desolado. Cada una de las chispas dejaba un rastro espectral. Impaciente esperaba cada nuevo día. En vano había deseado borrar con mis libros la tristeza por la ausencia de Lenore. La especial y radiante señorita bautizada por los ángeles como Lenore, pero que aquí no es nombrada.
Y ese crujido sedoso, triste e incierto de las cortinas púrpuras que me embargaba de dudas conun terror irreal, nuca antes sentido y qué actualmente siento agitándose en mi corazón, repetí:
Es un visitante tocando mi puerta. Sólo se trata de eso.

From my infancy I was noted for the docility and humanity of my disposition. My tenderness of heart was even so conspicuous as to make me the jest of my companions. I was especially fond of animals, and wasindulged by my parents with a great variety of pets. With these I spent most of my time, and never was so happy as when feeding and caressing them.
