AUDITION DIRECTIONS & TIPS
IMPORTANT PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
Project: “Transfers” Open Call
Role: Irina
Please note, current ActorCast members should log in and submit their audition from the Roles
section of the AC web site. You will need to upload your audition video (using the instructions on
the following pages) and submit it as part of a package.
Preparation:
If you are going tosubmit yourself, the casting director requests that you tape your
audition using the instructions and scene included here. Once you finish recording,
follow the instructions for Windows or Mac to digitize the video, which can be found on
the web site. When you are ready to submit the audition, go to
www.transferscasting.com, select your role and click "submit" and after you fill out yourinformation you can upload your video, headshot and resume.
Instructions:
Make sure you are standing against a plain wall and not backlit. Start by zooming the
camera out to view your full body and clearly state your full name, age, and height.
Then, zoom the camera in to frame your head and shoulders, and perform the scene
attached to this document.
Helpful tips for a good audition:
• Find aquiet room that has very little or no background noise. TV’s, fans,
running water and air conditioning can be distracting.
• The wall behind you should ideally be white or blue. Try to position yourself a
few feet away from the wall to avoid shadows.
• Make sure you are lit well, since you want the viewer to be able to see your face
clearly. (Don’t film in front of a window -- this will create asilhouette, not good for
shooting.)
• Your camera should ideally sit on a tripod to maintain a steady image. If you
don’t have a tripod, make sure you can put the camera on a stable surface or
have someone hold it steadily.

• Record a test sample and see how it looks and sounds on the computer first to
make final adjustments before taping the scenes. If you can’tsee or hear yourself
well, we won’t be able to either.

IRINA.
IRINA SIDES
IRINA SCENE 1.
INT. GIRL’S BEDROOM - EARLY EVENING
Irina talks softly to herself. She’s folding clothes andplacing them carefully into drawers. Around her we see:
open suitcases, plastic wrapped paintings and
photographs. She’s clearly moving in.
She folds two identical, delicate, lace shirts and places
them in a drawer.
IRINA
One for me. One for you.
Next she picks up two identical vintage T-shirts and
unrolls them. She folds and places them in another
drawer. The T-shirts are child sized withcute,
unrecognizable icons on them, icons almost faded away by
constant wear.
IRINA (CONT'D)
Summer 2000. We must have worn these
every other day.
The bedroom door opens and a very attractive girl, JASMIN
peeks in. Cooler than cool clothes, deliberately messed
up hair. She’s holding a half empty tumbler of Jack
Daniels and speaks with a French accent.
JASMIN
Are you hiding a boy in there?Irina’s translucent skin flushes red.
IRINA
Oh no, no.
JASMIN
I could swear I heard you talking with
someone. Anyway, we bought some Jack
Daniels and wine. Come join us.
IRINA
Thank you! I still have a lot of
unpacking to do. Maybe I’ll come down
later, if that’s okay.
Jasmine’s eye detects a gorgeous green silk dress with a
creme ruffle lying on the bed. She picks it up, sees
anotheridentical one below it.
JASMIN
You have two of these? How cool. You
won’t mind if I borrow one, will you?
She holds the dress against her frame and looks in the
floor length mirror approvingly.
The color drains from Irina’s face and she gulps back
words.
JASMIN (CONT’D)
I have these vintage Gaultier boots.
They’ll look killer with this and a pair
of skinny jeans.
Irina finally spits...
