CHARLES DICKENS
Charles Dickens was born in 1812 in Portsmouth. He went in the primary school of Chatham for thirteen years. The economic situation of his family got worse when his father was in theprison. His mother showed him books of his father so he learnt to read. The family recovered the economy because of an inheritance. Charles worked as a helper of a lawyer, learning shorthand and inthe Morning Chronicle. He wrote many articles about the daily life in London.
In 1828 he married Catherine Hogarth, and they had ten children. His work The posthumous papers of the Pickwick Club waspublished, and his next work was Oliver Twist. Thanks of his works, Dickens had more prestige. He went to the Unite States of America in 1842, where he had a good welcome, but he published a work thatprovoked the refuse of the USA. Whatever, he had the support of the people with A Christmas Carol.
Dickens had the big responsibility of satisfy the readers, and he felt in a crisis. He broke withhis editors and then he travelled to Italy, Switzerland and France. When he returned to England, because of his problems of money, he organized theatre plays, he made the Daily News, he was an actor andhe did conferences.
In 1850, her healthy got worse and his father, daughter and sister dead. Catherine broken up with him because of the rumour of a love story with the young actress Ellen Teman.Since then, the personality of Charles changed radically. He continued making conferences and writing. He did a tour in EUA in 1867, and in 1870 appeared the first novel that never have finished: TheMistery of Edwin Drood.
The 8th of June of 1870, Dickens had a brain vascular accident and the next day he dead. He wanted to be buried in the Cathedral of Rochester in a simple and private way, but hewas buried in the Abbey of Westminster.
