The Bye Child
A gleam of light shines through the small window and he can’t help but peek to see where it comes from. He couldn’t understand what attracted him to this bright light that he could only see from afar. It was a dark place with very little space to move around, having cobwebs and spiders in the corners. He was alone, only accompanied by rodents and bugs. Not recognizing many sounds,no more than from the squeaks, chirps, or the way the wind blew and made the leaves swish from side to side.
He was a small, slim boy. He was very fond of everything he saw through the window. Dreaming of what that long brown trunk with green bushes on top must feel like. He would see children playing and laughing together. Sadly, he only had that a dream, a longing wish to leave where he was.Not ever knowing, just wondering, wants behind the door.
She was a young woman, who already had three children. Her name was Ann, she loved her children but was poor and they would often go without food. She would try to do everything she could to feed them, send them to school, and clothed them. One day she found out that she was pregnant with her fourth child and did not know what to do. Howcould she possibly be able to maintain a fourth child? Ann’s sister was married to a lovely man was very wealthy. Unfortunately their only problem was that no matter how much she wished for a child, she could never get pregnant.
Ann decided to give her sister, Jane a chance to become a mother and gives her baby boy to her sister. At first everything was amazing Jane and her husband were happy tofinally form a family. Jane felt that at last she had everything she wanted. Once the boy turned one year old her husband started to abandon the boy. He somehow felt that he was never going to be his really son, and he was never going to be a real father.
Jane’s husband told her “Just get rid of that useless man, then we’ll have a chance to have our own child. If not, I will get rid of himmyself.”
But Jane did not know what to do, her sister still wasn’t well to care for him properly and she had fallen in love with him as her own. He was her husband and she vowed to be with him for better o worse. Even though, what he was asking her to do hurt her. She felt that she had no choice, so she decided to hide him in the attic from her husband. She prayed to God that he didn’t find out. Henever went to the attic in the first place, so she felt it was the safest place for her to be happy.
Years went by without anyone noticing what Jane had done. Every now and then a light would be turned on and the boy could see it glimmer beneath the door edge. The figure of a lady comes in to give him food and clothing. As she opens the door the boy can admire from a distance what is on the otherside. As the figure gets closer to the boy, one can see that it’s Jane. She went to see him at least twice a day to see how he was y to give him food. Although she knew it wasn’t fair to keep him locked up, not having a chance to share with the other kids. Jane could see how his eyes would light up every time she would open the door.

Since the day Jane had to make the decision of keep the boylocked up, she would have dreams of taking him to a mission house but her love for him was as strong as a mother’s love. However, she would always think about how he would have had a chance to be a somewhat normal child. How someday maybe a family that could offer him a true home, would make him very happy. Jane now couldn’t imagine her life with this boy. She knew that Ann was her birth mother butthat did not get in the way she felt about him. She wished, she could tell everyone her secret and present her son to the world but she knew it would complicate her marriage.
It was a normal day, Jane got up and made her husband breakfast and he got ready for work. Jane’s husband left for work and as always she started to make breakfast for her son. As she was walking up stairs her husband...
