Egomaniacs
There are egos based on low self estemm and egos based on high self esteem. and both are big. there are incredibly big miserable egos, people who hide from the rest of the world and suffer, are so miserable and feel noone loves them and noone sees them and if they would disappear todaynoone would notice. this is a big ego story, but one that is mostly silent.
Some use it to blackmail others emotionally. and there are the outgoing, expressive egos who claim they are the best and loved by everyone and are loud and need people to reinforce their self esteem.
ego always needs drama, whether lonely in a room or attention based. it needs a story. a suffering story or a success story. drama nourishes ego. if nothing would happen, there would be no story for the ego and it would be dispensable.
Egotistical people also feel that they have to be the center of attention to validatethemselves. They often neglect the needs of those around them and think only in terms of what will suit them.
This happens because they're shielding lowself-esteem with a capacity for achieving goals and entering contests. Unlike a person with high self-esteem, someone with a big ego needs the acclaimof others to boost their secretly underdeveloped self-image.
They like to point out that they've made more money than their neighbor, or they becomeinflamed and try to outdo someone who has a bigger car or fancier clothes by making loftier purchases. They like to "keep up with the Joneses."
