Should Be Euthanasia Allowed or Should Not?
According to the Constitution all human beings have a right to live with dignity, but when it comes to reality it not that simple as it sounds. There are so many people who suffer from living in a vegetative state or having an incurable disease being in condition where effective treatment would not affect their quality of life.  Every day they carryan incredible pain waiting for death to knock in their door, and I think that the people who they are surrounded with should help them painlessly terminate their life thru euthanasia if there is no other way to cure their disease besides death. Euthanasia is the practice of ending the life of a person who suffers from terminal illness or who is in a vegetative state, in order to relieve him fromthe pain and suffering. Even by law without talking about moral aspects and values, we have a right to live not exist; then, why do we meet with so many difficulties when we want to have the liberty to choose induced death thru euthanasia? We live in a civilized society where we should have a right to choose, and in case if someone suffers from an incurable disease he/she should be allowed toshorten their lifetime to escape the intolerance anguish thru practice of euthanasia. Even though so many religious people are against this “mercy killing,” by my own opinion euthanasia should be allowed for three reasons.
The first reason why I support euthanasia is because everyone has the right to live, so everybody should have the right to choose when to end their own lives. “ Mercykilling” or euthanasia became one of the biggest controversial topics in the entire world. Even though the euthanasia is considered as a criminal homicide in most of the countries, there exist a few countries – like Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland, which have lawful provisions for it (Naomi). While active euthanasia is considered illegal in every single state of America, physician assisted suicideis legal in four states – California, Washington, Oregon and Montana (“Legal Status”). According to the California Compassionate Assembly Bill AB 374 the patients who suffer from a terminal disease can make a request for medications which will provide death, if suffering becomes unbearable (James Park). The State of Oregon in the United States was the place where assisted dying was firstpracticed in 1997. The Act under which assisted dying is practiced is called the “Oregon’s Dying with Dignity Act 1994” ((Phulkar).  According to the reports there have been 460 cases in Oregon when people have committed suicide by taking advantage of the Act between 1998 and 2009 legally (Phulkar).  Why euthanasia is forbidden in majority of the countries and allowed in some of them? It still remains oneof the unclear and controversial questions. There are so many situations that had happened in the past like Terry Schavio (Naik) or Ms. Kuller (Homola)cases when patients begged for mercy killing and had expressed their wish not to be kept alive. Those cases helped to shed the light on the euthanasia practice and understand what people really desire when they live in a vegetative state, withbrain damage or suffer from incurable diseases.
The next reason it is inhumane to make someone who terminally ill endures the daily unbearable pain and let them suffer without having any hope to survive or increase the quality of life. So many situations based on true life stories had proved that the people who have the incurable diseases would rather die with dignity than live in sufferfrom the enormous pain every single day. I truly believe the certificated doctors; people who work in medical field should help that kind of patients to get rid of the pain because it is one of the doctors’ obligations to help.  Is that not a torture to witness how your loved one wriggle because of the immense pain and you know there is no way the person can survive or get well? According to the...
