ALOE
DESCRIPTION

This plant belongs to the lily family, resembles a small rhizome maguey long, has a herbaceous growth habit, the leaves are called fronds, are large, thick, fleshy, with upturnedteeth, tipped thorns and sharp edges. These contain a gel that is called wormwood, and is what is exploited commercially, is a bitter yellow juice, it is aloin, the flowers are long tube-shaped,reddish-orange, the root is long forming a rhizome which can be divided to propagate the plant

Most species form a large rosette of thick fleshy leaves and stems emerging from short (in somespecies is very long and even branched). These leaves are usually lanceolate with a sharp apex and spiny margins, colors vary from gray to bright green and are sometimes striped or mottled. Thetubular flowers, with colors from yellow to orange or red, born in a leafless stem, simple or branched, clustered in dense clusters (inflorescences).
